Othmann seems to gel nicely with whomever he's playing. Would be nice if that can translate to a shift to the right side! |

Maybe he is the reason the rangers don’t want to pay to being back Motte. See him with an outside shot to make the team |

definitely agree
Cuylle is actually a good candidate in my opinion to start with the team on the 4th line
he's huge, feisty and has some AHL under his belt already

it was so annoying he wasnt allowed back in hartford last year - but a stupid ass rule to enforce when every ahl team payed a different amount of games. |

good thing is he really has a fabulous year in OHL and a great playoff, so I think ultimately it worked out well

I hate the idea of using Cuylle on the 4th line. 8 minutes a game isnt going to help his development.
If LAF ends up playing RW again this year, I want to see Cuylle with Chytil and Kakko/Krav. |

I believe Othmann is under the same rule this year. So its very likely he goes back to juniors for one more year. |

What is the point of that rule? It makes the AHL more of a second tier league than a development league. Imagine how exciting it would be to allow recently drafted players to go there. I’d probably actually follow the Wolf Pack. |

that's the thing though, there is no such thing as a "Kakko/Krav"

I mean...you never know. Maybe the will come together Vultron style and dominate.
Don't dismiss the possibilities. |

It prevents the Canadian Junior leagues (where >50% of players are still drafted from) from being plundered of all the top talent after 2 or 3 of their 5 years of eligibility. If that were to happen it would effect the development of every player across the entire CHL.
Edit:
more than half of draft picks were selected from the CHL "historically." I just took a quick look and found that other leagues (USADP, Europe, etc...) seem to be catching up. Recent draft have more like 40% coming out of Canadian Juniors. |

i get the rule - but it was the enforcement of the rule after what was essentially a joke of an AHL season where each team played different games b/c of covid.
but - like jim said - its nbd since he had a great junior season and played extremely well all year |

I think were just overwhelmed with what we have now as it is, to add Othmann to the main roster just doesnt make sense.
LAF, Kakko, Kravtsov, Blais, Vesey, Hunt, Cuylle, Reaves
We can however, come playoff time, at the risk of losing a year of his ELC bring him in. Im sure we will see a lot of Othmann in the preseason. I wouldnt be surprised if we see him playing both wings. Theres the possibility they give him the 9 games hes allowed to play before sending him back to juniors. Hes gonna have to really blow the doors off to stay in NY. |

this just was released in a book, the official trade agreement between Rangers and Quebec to get Lindros when they also traded him to Philly and we lost the arbitration case

Thats pretty insane. However to think, we could have had Messier and Lindros as our 1 / 2 punch down the middle might have brought us more than 1 cup. |

Plus there being no salary cap so who know what we would have done to fill those vacant spots. There sure as hell would be no shortage of players that would want to come to NY to play with either Messier or Lindros. |
